Owner George Gibson opened the doors in July, 2006, after spending nearly 25 years working for Twin Cities area auto dealerships. High Tec is based on George’s belief there is still a place in the community for expert automotive services at affordable prices by an independent operator. At High Tec, customers are educated about their vehicles so they can make informed decisions regarding repairs and regular maintenance.

Shortly after High Tec opened, George was called to active duty with his National Guard Unit, the 2-147 Assault Helicopter Battalion. In addition to being a medium-duty master mechanic, George is also a Maintenance Test Pilot who flies Blackhawk helicopters. Shortly before George left for his 18 month tour of duty in Balad, Iraq, his wife Amy and long time friend Jason Gray came on board to run High Tec. Amy, formerly a middle school science teacher, handles the
office portion of the business while Jason is the automobile and light truck master mechanic in the shop. In July, 2008, George returned to a business that grew in accordance with his original vision during his absence.
After two years of operation High Tec Truck and Automotive Repair continues to grow. It has evolved from a one man operation to a three person shop. High Tec is a member of the HLACC as well as the Better Business Bureau. Additionally, High Tec has begun to work on vehicles for Free2Be. On any given day a visitor might see a Chevy Malibu, Ford E350 cube van and a 4 car roll off tow truck all being worked on in the shop.
